  • The physician should encourage the user to come for a follow up visit in case of any problem or doubt regarding usage of Silverline Cu 380 Ag/ 280 Ag.
  • During followup the physician should pay particular attention to the following points.- Heavier bleeding, indicate the possibility of anemia.
  • If pregnancy has occurred and the threads are still visible, the Silverline Cu 380 Ag/ 200 Ag should be removed.
  • There is a decrease in the risk of ectopic pregnancy among users of Silverline Cu 380 Ag/ 200 Ag due to an overall reduction in the chance of pregnancy. However, should pregnancy occur, it is more likely to be ectopic than in non users.
  • Removal of Silverline Cu 380 Ag/ 200 Ag is advisable, if user is exposed to conditions that substantially increase the risk of pelvic inflammatory disease.

What do I need to know about the silver ring on Silverline?
Silverline consists of a y-shaped frame which has a copper wire with silver core wrapped around the vertical stem. The silver wire is 99.95% pure
What is the advantage of Silverline IUD?
Silverline the Copper wire has Silver Core. This prevents Copper from fragmenting. Dissolution of Wire stops once it reaches the Silver Core, as Silver does not dissolve under contact with uterine fluids.
When should Silverline be removed?
Silverline offers a long term (5 years for 380 Ag) and Short term protection (3 years for 200 Ag). The Silverline IUD must be removed within 5 years (for Silverline Cu 380Ag) and 3 years (for Silverline Cu 200Ag)
Do I need to provide backup contraception for the first 2 to 3 weeks after Silverline is inserted?
If you start Silverline within 12 days after the start of your monthly bleeding, there is no need to use any back up method. If you are currently using any other contraceptive method consistently and correctly, you can switch to Silverline immediately.
Why can't Silverline be reloaded?
The device is for single use only.
Does Silverline have an indication for heavy menstrual bleeding?
Bleeding is a common side-effect Menstrual bleeding may be severe and of longer duration, bleeding between menstrual cycles can occur during the initial 2-3 months. Cramping and heavier bleeding decreases with time. As a result of bleeding iron deficiency may be induced in some cases. In case the bleeding continues for longer period of time please consult your doctor. Also the IUD can be removed in case recommended by doctor.

Silverline is contraindicated in women with: known or suspected pregnancy, congenital or acquired uterine anomaly, Suspected Endometriosis or infected abortion in the past 3 months; unexplained uterine bleeding; current IUD; acute pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) or history of PID, genital tract infections
